Outcomes

The unit created a prototype for devising scenes from photographs and other source material.  The unit also helped my students to address the Theater Blueprint performance indicators for acting.  The unit also helped support a change in my teaching practice as it promoted structured small group collaboration through the integration of formative assessment and technology. Previously, the art specialist was the arbiter of feedback as my role was much more of a director. The implementation of the unit and the supports from Arts Achieve developed her role as facilitator of learning. Providing her students with clear criteria through rubrics helped them to stay on task, take ownership of their scene work and the process, and become more independent in their playwriting and acting.  As the students demonstrated their abilities to stay on task and work independently, the teaching artist learned to trust their skills as collaborators.
