Week 6
- Move & Match Game (Tempo with Student Improviser) - Students move to posted tempo words around the room to match the tempo of music performed by students improvising on the xylophone using a given tempo.
- Students listen to a music excerpt, then write about the musical mood and a personal connection using the Mood and Personal Connection Checklist to self-assess and revise their work, and complete the Tempo Sentence Template and Rubric.
Week 7
- Students play Musical Boggle (Tempo) to generate a list of musical tempo and speed words.
- Students listen to a music excerpt, then write about the musical mood, a personal connection and tempo in complete sentences, using the Mood, Personal Connection and Tempo Checklist to self-assess and revise their work.
Week 8
- Students look at and discuss dynamics as one “3” musical elements of MP3.
- Move & Match Game (Dynamics with Student Improviser) - Students move to posted dynamic words around the room to match the dynamics of music performed by students improvising on the xylophone using a given tempo.
- Students listen to a music excerpt, then write about the musical mood and a personal connection and tempo in complete sentences, using the Mood, Personal Connection and Tempo Checklist to self-assess and revise their work, and complete the Dynamics Sentence Template and Rubric.
Week 9
