LESSON 11: FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT AND ADJUSTMENT
Formative Assessment: Peer-to-Peer Review
Students use iPads to take photos of their designs and upload the images into the Explain Everything app. A fellow student then uses the app to analyze and make notes about the design. Once that this has been done, they use the notated image to guide their discussion as they share, question, and discuss their partner’s design.
Continued Design
Students continue to work on their designs clarifying and adjusting according to their formative discussion with a peer. The final design includes:
- A full-color rendering of the costume
- Notations to highlight choices and details
- Sketches to better show details incorporated
LESSON 12: SELF-EVALUATION, WRITTEN ANALYSIS
Final Written Analysis
Students trade their final design with a fellow student. The fellow student organizes their thoughts about the design by using the graphic organizer implemented in the earlier part of the lesson. Students then answer the question:
“Look at your partner’s design. Describe their costume and explain what their costume tells you about the character.”
The final essay serves as a summative assignment to wrap-up the unit.
